After installation and successful login, you will see the WordPress dashboard. The look of the dashboard has been changing over the years; in the past, it looked like this

…whereas today it looks like this

Wordpress Dashboard

The main components of the WordPress dashboard are:

  1. Horizontal Menu Bar with tools (or toolbar). It includes basic administrator functions. Here we can find the site title, a link to the home page (to activate it, you have to place the mouse cursor on the home icon next to the site title), an icon and notifications related to comments… After installing certain plugins, here we can also find shortcuts and panels for their use.
  2. Main WordPress Menu with its tabs and sub-tabs. The basic fields in this menu are Dashboard, Posts, Media, Pages, Comments, Appearance, Plugins, Users, Tools and Settings. The other fields are activated and added after the installation of new plugins; also, certain themes have their custom fields that show up after theme installation.
  3. Main Workspace
